Greek dark/black metal pioneers Rotting Christ are set to celebrate their 35th anniversary with an exclusive concert at Club Mixtape5 in Sofia, Bulgaria on November 17. Known for their fierce and captivating performances, the band will treat Bulgarian fans to an extended, unique setlist as part of their “35 Years of Evil Existence” celebration.

Why Bulgaria?
Following special anniversary shows earlier this year in Athens and Thessaloniki, Rotting Christ’s frontman, Sakis Tolis, expressed the band’s strong connection with their Bulgarian fanbase. This bond motivated them to bring the celebration to Sofia, a city where they’ve consistently received overwhelming support throughout their career.
Support from Embrace By Dark
Supporting Rotting Christ at the Sofia show will be Bulgarian melodic doom/death metal band Embrace By Dark (EBD). Formed in 1995 by members of the influential Bulgarian band Desolate, EBD brings a unique, heavy sound to the line-up. This event also marks the band’s third live performance with their new vocalist Todor, following the tragic passing of their original singer, Ilko Gizdov. EBD’s latest album, “Extrasensory“, released on October 25 via WormHoleDeath, has been well-received by the doom and death metal communities.

Since releasing their debut demo “Satanas Tedeum” in 1989, Rotting Christ has built a vast legacy. Founding members, brothers Sakis and Themis Tolis (formerly known as Necromayhem and Necrosauron), have stayed at the band’s core, delivering their distinctive sound across over 2,000 live shows worldwide. Their 14th studio album, “Pro Xristou“, was recently released under Season of Mist in 2024, earning chart recognition internationally.
