Archgoat at Underground for the Masses II. What to Expect?
As part of their 2025 tour, Archgoat will perform at Underground for the Masses II in Bucharest, Romania, on April, 2025. This festival, known for its focus on extreme and underground metal acts, will host Archgoat’s unholy and raw sound, offering Romanian fans a taste of their visceral exploration of darkness.
When Finnish heritage meets black metal, the result is pure madness, and that’s exactly what Archgoat brings to this festival stage. From their early demos to their latest offerings, they excel at delivering twisted riffs and relentless blast beats that will seize you and drag you into the fray of war. Capturing the essence of “war metal” is no small feat, yet Archgoat achieves it masterfully.
Background on Archgoat
Archgoat, hailing from Turku, Finland, was formed in 1989 by twin brothers Ritual Butcherer and Lord Angelslayer. The band delves into themes of anti-Christianity, and occultism, cementing their status in the black metal genre. They released their first demo, “Jesus Spawn“, in 1991, setting the stage for their exploration of the unholy path. This was followed by one more demo and an EP in 1993, which further defined their brutal sound. Their split release, “Messe des Morts/ Angelcunt“, came out in 1999, showcasing their collaboration with other extreme acts.
The band returned to EPs with “Angelslaying Black Fucking Metal” in 2005, and their full-length debut, “Whore of Bethlehem“, followed in 2006, containing tracks that highlighted their raw intensity.
They released “Desecration & Sodomy” in 2008 before unleashing the critically acclaimed “The Light-Devouring Darkness” in 2009, which earned a remarkable 98% rating on Encyclopedia Metallum. The compilation “The Aeon of the Angelslaying Darkness” was issued in 2010, featuring key tracks from their early years.
They continued with “Heavenly Vulva (Christ’s Last Rites)” in 2011, and their 2015 full-length “The Apocalyptic Triumphator” was well-received. They also released a boxed set, “Total Satanic Darkness“, in 2016.
More recent works include the EP “Eternal Damnation of Christ” from 2017, the full-length “The Luciferian Crown” from 2018, the live album “Black Mass XXX” from 2020, and “Worship the Eternal Darkness” from 2021. Their latest EP, “All Christianity Ends“, came out in 2022, continuing their legacy of extreme sound and provocative themes.
