Portuguese doom/heavy metal band Dawnrider set November 4th as the international release date for their fifth studio album. Titled Five Signs of Malice, the six track album will come out via Firecum Records.
Formed in 2004, Dawnrider quickly became the spearhead of Portuguese doom metal, known for their notable psychedelic grooves and infectious heavy metal riffing. Five Signs of Malice, their fifth full-length album, marks the return of the band to the heart of the storm, delivering what promises to be their most focused and mature work to date. The album was mixed and mastered by none other than Tony Reed (Pentagram, etc), ensuring the sound is as powerful as ever.
Following up on The Fourth Dawn, Hugo “Rattlesnake” Conim and his unholy pack of musicians—Filipe Relêgo (bass and vocals), João Ventura (drums), and Diogo Simões (keyboards)—have summoned all their demons to create this beast of an album. Five Signs of Malice will undoubtedly expand their fan base… Also, it’ll bring doom and darkness into a world shrouded in mist, awaiting its final reckoning.
“To talk about human nature is also to talk about the bestiality in human beings, their dark side, and their capacity to brutalize, to attack, even to take the lives of their fellow human beings. In Five Signs of Malice, we deal with this dark and disturbing subject, which is undoubtedly inherent in human reality,” says Filipe Relêgo.
