Rich Textures, Analogue Warmth
“V” expands Naxatras’ sonic universe with a bold new sound that leans into progressive rock, world music, and ambient electronics. It’s a conceptual journey through the mythic world of Narahmon – featuring the emergence of the Spacekeeper character – and showcases a band pushing boundaries both thematically and musically.
With a mindset rooted in constant experimentation and evolution as a creative process, Naxatras let their ideas simmer until the right moment came to bring them to life. Now, those fragments have fully taken shape – refined by the band’s matured approach to composition.
Their current line-up includes a dedicated keyboardist and an expanded range of percussion, allowing the band to embrace a richer, more layered production style. The result? A sound that fuses analogue warmth with newfound clarity and complexity.
Naxatras – Over a Decade of Growth
The Greek band’s melodies merge heady psych with groove-laden rhythms, hefty riffs, and sprawling, melodic guitar solos – all delivered with a distinctly ’70s sonic flavour.
Formed in 2012, they recorded their debut album in 2015 – live, in a single day, using only analogue gear for every stage: recording, mixing and mastering. That self-titled release quickly became a standout in the scene, drawing acclaim from critics and fans alike.
2016 brought their second album – “II” – along with a companion EP. The following year saw the single “All the Stars Collide Into a Single Ray”, and the start of recording sessions for “III”, again done entirely live and analogue. It dropped in 2018, followed by a live album from a sold-out show at Athens’ iconic Gagarin 205.
For their fourth studio effort, the band brought in multi-instrumentalist Pantelis Kargas on keys and synths. The artwork – as with all their albums – was handled by longtime visual collaborator Chris RW. “IV” was released on 25 February 2022.
They’ve since earned a strong live reputation, merging psychedelic and progressive rock with stoner, funk, jazz, electronic and Eastern-trippy elements for a full-sensory experience. Extensive touring followed – across most of Europe, with stops at Desertfest, O.Z.O.R.A. Festival, Dunajam and even a tour through Australia.
