South American thrash/death metal legends Torturer return with the release of their new music video for Santa Inquisición, a blistering track from their latest album, Burning Cross.
“Santa Inquisición explores the fanatical vision of a sect that wielded the cross and the sword to combat the so-called enemies of the church. It stands as yet another example of humankind’s attempts to control and oppress the masses. How many innocent lives suffered and perished because of this?” – Francisco Cautín, original singer and bassist of Torturer.
Directed by Nicolás Cubillos and Maximiliano Díaz, the video is a striking visual experience that mirrors the song’s relentless energy. Dark, cinematic imagery pulls viewers into a world of turmoil, featuring haunting depictions of burning crosses, churches, and twisted figures.
Santa Inquisición was originally written for Torturer’s 1995 EP Los Últimos Tiempos. However, the band re-recorded it for Burning Cross, the band’s latest full-length album, released last month via Australis Records. The album is already generating buzz as one of the most notable releases of the year in the thrash/death metal scene.
Since forming in 1989, Torturer has been a formidable presence in the South American thrash and death metal scenes, gaining recognition in Europe after Infest Records (France) released their first albums, Kingdom of the Dark (1991) and Oppressed by the Force (1992). Having shared the stage with acts such as Cannibal Corpse, Sadus, and Brujería, Torturer has solidified their reputation as one of the genre’s most uncompromising forces.
