Five Bands, One Stage
The debut of Bucharest Prog Day is shaping up to be an enchanting celebration of progressive metal, with five remarkable bands lighting up the stage.
First up, Hippotraktor (Belgium) – a band that elevates modern progressive metal to its fullest potential. Their sound is a potent mix of complex riffs, unpredictable rhythms, and an atmosphere that pulls you into a new world. Their debut album, “Meridian“, set the stage for what was to come, and their sophomore release, “Stasis“, is pushing boundaries even further. This isn’t just about listening — it’s about feeling every note as they build layers of sound, shifting from ambient passages to explosive grooves.
Next, Taine (Romania) – pioneers of progressive death metal, these trailblazers have been shaping the Romanian scene since 1993. Their latest album, “Chaos & Contemplation” (2023), is a brutal, complex blend of death metal and progressive elements, breaking barriers while staying true to their roots.
Cosmin Lupu (Romania) is ready to drop his highly anticipated album “Everest”, and you’re going to want to hear this. Cosmin has shared the stage with major acts like The Cure, Whitesnake, and Queensrÿche, and now, he’s stepping into his own. His new material, backed by a solid band, is a mix of modern progressive vibes and raw personal expression.
Now, Calyces (Greece) are bringing their post-metal/experimental journey to the stage. These guys know how to make an impact with their heavy riffs and atmospheric sound. Their 2020 album “Impulse to Soar” is a work of art that blends 2000s prog metal with ’70s classic rock influences. Their ability to seamlessly braid together polyrhythms, melodic passages, and deep atmospheric layers will leave you breathless. Their live shows are legendary — think of the kind of performance that pulls you in, builds you up, and takes you on a ride you won’t forget.
And least but not last, Chaplin’s Dream (Bulgaria) steps in with their unique fusion of progressive metal, stoner, and thrash influences. This band from Shumen combines groove-heavy riffs with melodic lines that captivate from the first chord. Their debut album “Genesis” and follow-up “Salt of the Earth” showcase their knack for writing engaging, memorable music that packs a punch. With each new release, they continue to evolve, pushing their sound into new territories. You’ll find yourself headbanging for sure.
So, if you thought you had seen it all — think again. Bucharest Prog Day is about to blow everything wide open. Five bands, each with their own unique voice, ready to ignite the stage in a way that only they can.
