Finnish progressive metal band Adamantra has unveiled their new single, “Hypocrites“, from their upcoming third full-length album. The track delves into the dark history of witch hunts and is accompanied by a haunting lyric video. Notably, “Hypocrites” features a string quartet, a first in the band’s recording history, adding a rich, orchestral layer to their signature sound.
The lyric video complements the single’s eerie theme with a single atmospheric image. The band chose the 19th-century wet plate photography technique to capture this image, evoking the historical essence of the song. Photographer Raimo Dahl explained, “Normally, it takes tens or even hundreds of pictures to get the top one. We decided to go against the grain. We took a single photo using a technique that allows for no second chances. That’s it”.
Bassist Jukka Hoffrén elaborates on the song’s themes, stating, “When you run away from narrow-mindedness. When you feel that what you are doing is never right or good. Things can be something completely different than what they seem. The world is not black and white. Or is it?”
Fans can stream “Hypocrites” on all major music platforms, including Spotify, Apple Music, Deezer, and Tidal.
