Thy Art Is Murder & Local Support at Quantic Open Air

concert review

On the 2nd of July, I had the chance to be among those who were eager to see Thy Art is Murder. With a bit of delay, I managed to arrive in Quantic, but unfortunately when As I Fall was playing their last song so I can’t give you an opinion about them, but I can say that the public was very energetic and happy to see their performance. I hope to catch them on stage soon!

The next band on stage were Divided by Perception from Cluj. This band was founded in 2012 and they inspire themselves from bands such as: Parkway Drive, While she sleeps and Trivium. While listening to them, I was trying to figure out the lyrics because there were a few sound issues and the voice volume was a bit too low compared to the instruments. Not necessarily my cup of tea, but I may say that this band has a lot of potential in the future.

Walk the Abyss– I wanted to see these guys for long time now and I managed to with this occasion. I do think that Vladila’s voice is very good and I would have liked to hear only one voice on this show, but paying attention to the second one made me rethink my early thought; even though the two vocalists have two different vocal styles, they complimented each other nicely. When the third voice came on stage, it was a total chaos and I could barely hear it because of the sound difficulties that were on stage.

A very nice show with a lot of energy preparing the public for the headliners Thy Art is Murder.

Despite the car problems, the band started the gig with only a line-check. The back garden of Quantic was almost full of people who sang every damn lyric with CJ McMahon. For those who are not familiar with the band, Thy Art Is Murder is a band from Sydney, Australia, founded in 2006. They combine elements from classic and authentic death metal with breakdowns and influences from bands such as Decapitated, Meshuggah, Black Dahlia Murder and Carnifex, which makes it an extreme style of music. The 2017 release entitled “Dear Desolation” will be the album which was be the center piece of the whole tour.

The sound was beyond perfect. The merch stand was “assaulted” by lots of fans who wanted to buy t-shirts or caps with their favorite band. Unfortunately, Time flew by fairly quickly and the concert was over (very early in my opinion). After that I was in a”404 error neck not found” mode. I hope to see this guys again very soon!

Thanks to HC/RO& 7inc for making this event possible and to the Quantic team for helding the event in their summer garden.
