A fair amount of time has passed since the compositions of Arckanum last left their mark upon us. Shamaatae is well aware of that fact. Therefore, nine years after the release of “Den förstfödde”, the 2017 full-length that appeared to close the musical chapter of the project, the Swedish artist has announced the return of one of black metal’s most revered names.
Entitled “Beswærilsin”, the forthcoming album is scheduled for release this October through Darkness Shall Rise Productions. According to the label, the recording process has already been completed, signalling the beginning of a new chapter for Arckanum.

Beneath Thursian Power
As stated by the label, Shamaatae has completed the recording of “Beswærilsin”, the long-awaited successor to “Den förstfödde”. To shorten the wait until October, Shamaatae will release a special pre-release EP, “Motestandarin”, in June, featuring two tracks taken from the forthcoming album.
Commenting on the announcement, the label stated:
“Driven by Thursian Power, Shamaatae has just finished the recording of the upcoming album «Beswærilsin», which will be released this October through Darkness Shall Rise Productions.
To shorten the wait, a special pre-release EP entitled «Motestandarin» will be released in June, featuring two tracks taken from the upcoming album.”
According to Darkness Shall Rise Productions, “Motestandarin” will be available as a limited 7” EP restricted to 218 copies and available exclusively through the webshop of the label, as a digital release, and across all major streaming platforms.

The Path Beyond the Flame
While many figures within black metal vanished into the shadows they once sought to invoke, Shamaatae followed a different road. The years away from Arckanum were not years of silence, but years devoted to authorship, philosophy, and spiritual exploration.
According to Encyclopaedia Metallum, Shamaatae is the author of several books dedicated to Chaos-Gnosticism, Anti-Cosmic Satanism, and Old Norse religion, published under the pen names Vexior and Ekortu. His first book, “PanParadox: Pan Towards Chaos”, was released through Ixaxaar Publishing in 2009. The same source notes that Arckanum dissolved in 2018 so that Shamaatae could focus entirely upon his literary work and spiritual pursuits.
The Sole Hand of Arckanum
Shamaatae is the only man behind Arckanum. There is no line-up, no collective, and no shared authorship, only him, from 1992 until 2026.
