Magnetar

Black/death/blackened thrash metal band Magnetar will drop the debut album on September 27th, via Vendetta Records. Titled There Will Be No Peace In My Valley, the upcoming release blends melodies and raging extreme metal.

Born from the fury and decay of North-West England’s post-industrial landscape, Magnetar presents their debut album, a unique amalgam of classic and raging extreme metal. Melody and brutality in equal measure.

Musically, the album can be seen as a triumvirate of influences: primarily the great melodic black/death Swedish bands of No Fashion Records in the early 90s, the muscularity and speed of 80s North & South American thrash/death acts such as Slayer, Sepultura, and Infernal Majesty. Last but not least, the hallowed British bands of the 80s including Judas Priest, Motörhead, and Iron Maiden. There is also a nod to their black metal forefathers Darkthrone, Immortal, and Bathory.

About the debut album

The greatest challenge in making the album was to balance these elements into a cohesive whole. Magnetar shuns repetition from track to track, with each song filled with new savage riffs, constantly spinning off down fresh paths.

SCUM opens the album in brutal fashion, serving as an ode to the wave of sycophantic and spineless populism currently ruining our planet, driven by nothing more than the fear of losing power. Their alternative-fact, double-think, conspiracy theorist acolytes are now unwittingly ushering in a society reminiscent of Orwell’s “1984.” Elsewhere, adherence to religion is eviscerated as superstitious nonsense that unnecessarily pits man against man. There is companionship for the fractured mind in the title track, a tale of bygone warriors returning home with an unknown horror in their midst.
