Orkid live in concert at Quantic Club

TOGETHER WITH GUNSHEE

Tomorrow, 29.05.2022, it will be exactly 6 years on the dot since Orkid took to the stage for the first time and they are going to celebrate this event together with their friends from Gunshee and, of course, the audience.

Orkid is a three piece of angry shoegazers from Bucharest that defines their sound and style as post-traumatic blues: a combination of multiple influences such as punk, indie, blues and progressive just to list some of them. Their first LP “Standing Still in the Dark” was launched in October of 2016 followed by the single titled “Beasts Apart” in December 2017 and the EP (soundtrack) “Suruaika” in April 2018. The end of 2018 marks their first collaboration with Adrian Despot as the producer for their single “Daily Extinction” at VdV Music Studio and the start of a very productive relationship. The release of their first material in Romanian, the EP “Deraiat”, further cements the success of this collaboration. The better part of the last two years has seen Orkid hard at work in studio in order to release “In The Light We Are Safe”, a project that contains 12 tracks and displays a vast array of styles from indie to shoegaze, punk, post-metal and black-gaze.

During their 6 years of activity Orkid performed over 150 concerts opening for acts such as Mogwai, Death in Vegas, Mono, The Underground Youth, Vita de Vie, Suie Paparude, Coma, Emil and many more. They also appeared in a whole host of radio shows (Rock FM, Radio Guerilla, Gold FM etc) and a televised show on national television TVR1 called “Starea Natiei” in 2019.

Orkid are:

Vlad Ilicevici: Guitar, Synth, Voice
Radu Pop: Drums, Synth
Mihnea Dumitrescu: Bass

Gunshee, instrumental prog rock, started all the way back in 2015 but their first concert took place 4 year later in 2019. To celebrate the event they released a demo titled “Marker CD”. Two years later on July 15th 2021 they launched their first studio album titled “Friends Through Here” which also contains a live version of the track “Thomas” that was recorded at Quantic Club in 2019. Their sound is predominantly progressive rock with influences from stoner and punk just to name a few. Recently the band won the grand prize and the UndergroundMusic prize for originality at Posada Rock 2021. They were the opening act for Luna Amara in 2019 and made an appearance at Radio Guerilla in 2020 at the show “Nesemnatii” with Bogdan Serban.
