Wyatt E. and Five the Hierophant announce two concerts in Romania in July

Read more about Five the Hierophant (UK) and Wyatt E. (BE) and their upcoming concerts.

A truly one-of-a-kind evening is in the works for July: Five the Hierophant (UK) and Wyatt E. (BE) will play two concerts in Romania. First they will land in Bucharest, in Quantic club on the 4th of July, and next they will play in Timisoara, in Manufactura, on the 5th .

This is going to be Wyatt E.‘s first time playing in Bucharest. Their musical concept is truly otherworldly: they play doom/drone with oriental elements, taking their inspiration from ancient Babylon. On their socials, the band simply states “music for Gods” at their about section, which sums up perfectly their sound that lies at the edge of our modern world. Their music can be described as a journey through a neo-Babilonian empire, transcending time and bringing listeners closer to ancient gods, forgotten cities and lost civilizations. In an interview, Sebastien, one of the founding members, stated that “Our music has a rock/metal configuration, but what we are creating is an artistic interpretation of what could have been the music for cults, and the Gods, if they had had our modern instruments.”

In the beginning, Wyatt E. wanted to remain anonymous, to let their music define their identities and thus their focus was not on live performances. But in the recent years they have transgressed their initial plans and have become a highly sought-after live act, delivering impressive live performances at prestigious festivals such as Roadburn 2022. A sense of mystery remained though by their on-stage presence: they play in faceless robes, resembling black specters.

In March they have released their much anticipated second album, āl bēlūti dārû (which means “The Eternal City” in the Akkadian language), an album which was mixed by doom godfather Billy Anderson (Sleep, Om, Melvins etc.)

Five the Hierophant are supporting Wyatt E. throughout their shows in Europe this summer. The bands have a history of shared performances: in the past both bands toured together with Messa, they collaborated on the musical project “Atonia” alongside MC Slice at this years’ Roadburn festival and they recorded a 10″ split single in 2021. Wyatt E. and Five the Hierophant’s music goes together harmoniously, creating a dark contemplative musical experiment and atmosphere, while at the same time indisputably carving their own, unique journeys.

Five the Hierophant are no strangers to the crowd in Romania: they have been one of the highlights at Dark Bombastic Evening (DBE) in 2018 and before that, their songs Queen over Phlegeton and Vampire were blasted every time after the end of a show at the 2017 edition of the festival, creating a real curiosity among festival goers to finally witness the band live.

Their sound combines doom/black/post metal with ambient, dark jazz and psychedelic undertones. Fully instrumental, they incorporate numerous instruments in their soundscape, from saxophones, bowed guitars, to the rag dung – Tibetan trumpet – thus creating a truly unique live experience.

In 2021, Five the Hierophant have released a follow up to their incredible 2017 debut album Over Phlegeton. The new album is titled Through Aureate Void and this time they went even more psychedelic, but without losing their heaviness and darkness. Continuing on the path of incorporating untraditional instruments into their music, on Through Aureate Void they added the zither, music saw, their already signature saxophone, along with a wide range of percussions.
