Valerinne it’s a post-rock band formed in Bucharest, Romania, about 7 years ago. Desire represents their 7th effort, this including a split and a live album.
The material is comprised of six tracks (“Young Demon” ,”Star from Below” ,”Earth from Above” ,”Deceiver” ,”Hegemon” and “Sorrows”). I must say the songs are pretty well written and give the listener an immersive experience. The tone of the album is pretty dark with a dreamy vibe but I must add it’s kind of becoming a bit dull at times. Nonetheless, I enjoyed the material and it makes for a really good atmospheric effort, I found it to be somehow relaxing and I would jam this album at a long road while driving or studying.
In terms of productions I would say it’s pretty neat, sure, it’s an instrumental album, but the lack of vocals doesn’t ease up the case on these guys one bit, especially when all the focus is on the musicianship of the band.
I would suggest you to give a listen to it yourself, but even if the albums lacks a bit on punch being more of an immersive material and even borrowing from shoegaze in some aspects, it sure compensates with its atmospherically value.
