Only a few embers still breathe beneath the ash before the dark swallows them whole. Tonight, 17 May 2026, the Belgian group Amenra and the Romanian band Am Fost La Munte Și Mi-a Plăcut will take the stage at Quantic in Bucharest. Sludge/post-metal. Hardcore. Post-rock. One night and one place in Romania chosen to house these sounds beneath the same roof.

Amenra and the Gravity of Tone
In 1999, after Spineless disbanded, a group of devoted musicians decided their road would not end there. According to Encyclopaedia Metallum, those names were Colin H. Van Eeckhout, Mathieu J. Vandekerckhove, and Kristof J. Mondy. They later recruited other members willing to share the same vision, thus forming Amenra.
With compositions centred on themes such as relationships, love, loss, pain, and spirituality, carefully shaped to inhabit the realms of sludge/post-metal and hardcore, the Belgian band became part of the Church of Ra collective alongside Oathbreaker, Hessian, The Black Heart Rebellion, Dehn Sora, Kingdom, and other artists and bands, as noted by Encyclopaedia Metallum.
The catalogue of the band includes six full-length albums, accompanied by numerous split releases and live albums. Their most recent studio record appeared in 2024 under the title “Skunk (Original Motion Picture Soundtrack)”. The predominantly instrumental release received praise for its atmosphere and execution.
The members of the band have not strayed from spreading their messages within a live setting either, appearing in Romania in 2024 during Rockstadt Extreme Fest.
Am Fost La Munte Și Mi-a Plăcut and the Sound of Remembering
Some time around 2016, someone set out to form a band positioned within the sphere of post-rock, built around compositions exploring emotional states and the reality we confront on a daily basis.
It is no secret that the name of the band, often shortened to “Am Fost La Munte” or “AFLMSMP”, originated as a joke by Vlad Enescu, who at the time did not imagine the project would endure, nor that it would eventually gather other minds sharing the same vision. Yet that is precisely what happened, and today they can look back on more than eight albums, the most recent of which, “I Went to the Mountain”, reached listeners in 2025.
Their latest full-length contains nine tracks, named after old Romanian sayings, and has also received positive critical reception.
The members of Am Fost La Munte Și Mi-a Plăcut have also embraced live performances. Over time, they have appeared at dunk!festival, Electric Castle, Tumult Festival and Rockstadt Extreme Fest.
The Order of the Evening
The event starts at 19:00. At 20:00, Am Fost La Munte Și Mi-a Plăcut will take the stage, marking the beginning of the night’s musical programme. At 21:15, Amenra will follow, continuing the sequence with their characteristic intensity and weight.
