Deteriorot

Spawned in the fetid breeding ground of the nascent New York/New Jersey death metal scene, in the dying embers of the ‘80s – first as Mortuary before adopting the Deteriorot moniker – Deteriorot are a part of the very fabric of death metal, intrinsic to its essential essence. Each release to bear their name is a reminder of the rotten heart of what has become a fragmented genre… Now, the time has come for another outpouring of horror and decay… Indeed, the time has come for Awakening!

About the new album

Each Deteriorot release has been a monument to uncompromising dedication, to skull shattering heaviness and mind rending horror. Thus, more than thirty-five years since their story began they are about to unleash their most powerful and atmospheric album to date… Awakening!

Deteriorot’s fourth full-length album is a blend of vehement velocity and megalithic riffs, guitar lines imbued with evil and an atmosphere of skin crawling menace. The songs feel like ancient, weatherworn ruins, shaped by the passing ages… Undoubtedly, uncompromising and impervious to the insidious workings of trends, tastes and fashions. Following the introductory death hymn of the album’s title track, Awakening roars into undead existence with the ominous evil of The Flame… Indeed, where teetering monoliths of ancient riffs topple into violent explosions of menace.

The idiosyncratic sound of Deteriorot surrounds you, dragging you into a dark world of nameless terrors.

Deliver Us From Fiction is inhuman, ruthless, relentless and implacable. It judges us, finds us wanting and feeds us into the furnace. From the war torn and primal In Battle To Survive with its cascading drum fills, to the shambling, rotten riffs of Horrors In An Everlasting Nightmare, Deteriorot preside over their blood drenched field of battle like primordial gods of death.

Programmed By Fear is a march into oblivion built upon riffs excavated from mass graves and Winter Moon is the definition of absolute old school death metal devastation. The atmosphere that winds through these tracks like smoke in the aftermath of an artillery barrage is suffocating. The wild guitar solos that tear through the darkness with feral claws are electrifying. Winter Moon possesses an arsenal of riffs that could vaporize the world and a closing solo like the screams of tormented souls.

In Silence is gargantuan, a regal procession for the tarnished majesty of the lord of rot and ruin. Moreover, The Spirit is a rampaging metallic monster that delivers us to the final benediction of To Sleep, where the beast returns to its tomb. With Awakening, Deteriorot has delivered another magnificent pronouncement of doom, another unquestionable outpouring of dark power and destruction.

Armed with a guitar tone to shake the earth and some classic death metal artwork, Awakening will come out via Xtreem Music on October 21st – on CD, 12″LP, Cassette & Digital formats. The Deteriorot legend continues…never forget, that only death is real.
