Brazil’s extreme progressive metal band Abstracted break their silence with “Languish”, a tightly-wound new single that kicks off the build-up to “Hiraeth”, the group’s second album, arriving early 2026 via M-Theory Audio. The track – now streaming and available with a full video – features guest vocals from Entheos frontwoman Chaney Crabb and marks the first release from the group’s revamped line-up. It also closes three-year gap since their last record, “Atma Conflux”, and signals a shift in direction for the São Paulo-based six-piece.
Reconstruction and Forward Motion
Since “Atma Conflux”, Abstracted has undergone major internal changes. Founding members Rosano Pedro Matiusi [vocals], Riverton Alves [bass], and Carol Lynn [keys] were joined by guitarists Leonardo Brito and José Consani, along with drummer Fernando Pollon – a change that reshaped both the sound and chemistry of the band.
The writing of “Hiraeth” took place during a period of uncertainty, but rather than compromise, the group leaned into it. The result is a record built on friction and fluidity, shifting between dense rhythmic passages and slow-burning melodic space.
Rosano Pedro Matiussi – vocals;
Riverton Alves – bass;
Carol Lynn – keyboards;
José Consani – guitars;
Leonardo Brito – guitars;
Fernando Pollon – drums.
