Symphonic black metal band Yog-Sothoth, hailing from mighty Poland, released their debut EP on August 30th. Titled Through the Gates of the Silver Key, the five song material is thematically inspired by the works of Lovecraft. However, about two months ago, on July 18th, the band dropped A Tale From the Deep Woods (Bal-Sagoth cover).
To start with, Yog-Sothoth came about as a solo project of Mikołaj “Athammaus” Kowalik… An 18 years old musician from Poland. So, he wrote and recorded the debut EP Through the Gates of the Silver Key all by himself. The lyrical themes draw inspiration from the works of H.P. Lovecraft. Meanwhile, the sound bears influences from bands such as Bal-Sagoth or Zel Agganor. In September 2024 Athammaus’ childhood friend, Zann joined the project. They’re working together on a second release for Yog-Sothoth, with Athammaus taking care of the musical side of things… And Zann being the lyricist and the singer. That being said, taking into consideration the newly released EP, the future sounds promising!
