Ashtar, led by musician Askahex from Switzerland, presents The Return of the Frozen Souls, an album that tells stories of personal transformation and ritual desire. This release marks their fourth full-album, following Ilmasaari (2015), Kaikuja (2020), and Wandering Through Time (2023). The album captures the awakening of the goddess’s anger and her thirst for revenge, all set within the beauty of nature and poetic darkness. It will come out on October 4th, via Northern Fog Records, in LP, CD and digital formats.
With seven tracks, Ashtar ventures into a new atmospheric region, unleashing a devastating presence full of rage, hate, and nature-bound beauty. Crystal clear and yet oppressive, Askahex has crafted towers of dark, cold sound, exploring a wide field of dynamics. The guide of the present is still the past. The blood of Black Metal flows through these veins. While essentially nostalgic, the album strides forward with the burning black flame of black metal, ready to ignite the past, present, and future. The execution and recording of the album are sublime and monumental, characterized by carefully cultivated lyricism that combines music and sophisticated content.
