This Sunday, June 9th 2024, the Greek post-metal/sludge band Allochiria returns to the Quantic stage in Bucharest with their signature heavy, explosive set. The Bucharest show is the last one out of the three they will have in Romania. First they will land at the M2 in Timisoara on the 7th, followed by the famous Rockstadt Club in Brasov on the 8th.
For the Bucharest gig, they will share the stage with two local bands, Jahmolxes and King Solomon. Read on for all the sludge and fuzz info.
Allochiria
Allochiria‘s music is a fascinating and soul-crushing mix of post-sludge, prog-sludge, post-black metal and post-metal. Founded in 2008, they have made a name for themselves in the international scene for their sonic duality, namely their inspired shift from melodicity and heavy riff duty, peppered with harrowing screams. Along the years, they shared the stage with bands such as Amenra, Social Distortion, Botch, Deafheaven and many more.
Allochiria‘s latest full-length Commotion was released in 2023. For more details on this album, you can check out our previous article. Their lyrical themes explore important social issues, such as corruption, inner struggles, pain and the consequences of humanity. On this happy note, you can listen to We Have Nothing from Commotion:
Jahmolxes
Jahmolxes is an instrumental band that sits at the crossroads between post-rock and heavy psychedelia. From 2017, they tell the story of Jahmolxes and his adventures across distant lands.
The four-piece started out as simply a jam session gang, but we are glad that it became a full-fledged band so we can hear the wisdom of the demi-god Jahmolxes.
They released their second EP in February 2024. Oceanus is the name, and the story sounds like this, according to the band: “Oceanus, the archnemesis of Jahmolxes, lays slumbering, imprisoned for eons at the bottom of the Black Sea. Yet his awakening draws nigh, as he dreams to rule the lands again with his vile corruption.” Check out the title-track:
King Solomon
King Solomon is a psychedelic stoner/fuzz rock trio, which can be seen as a local groove supergroup, as the members also play in RoadkillSoda, Damage Case and Crossborne. Their concerts are never the same, as each time their live shows end up being a true experimental stoner improv session, which draws in the public at each of their shows.
Their latest album was released in 2023 and is dubbed Heights. Staying true to the improv attitude that I just described, the record was recorded live durinf a one-week trip to a mountain village. Still not convinced? Check out the trippin’ space jams of Psychonaut taken from Heights:
