Finnish death metal band Shrapnel Storm released their third full length album on October 6th, via Great Dane Records. Titled Silo, the new album includes eleven tracks and has a total duration of over 40 minutes. Daniel Rantanen executed the recording, mixing and mastering of Silo at Danko Tones/ JR Audio Studios in the first half of 2023. Aadolf Virtanen produced the album, while Ville Yrjola made the cover and booklet design.
However, prior to the album release, the Finnish band dropped two official videos. The Only Snake Here Is You came out on September 1st. Later in September, on 28th Justice And Glory followed.
The album kicks off ominously reflecting the eerie sounds of oncoming doom and destruction, blasting into one of the band’s more fast-paced tunes. However, it is followed by brutal stomping and wicked melodies track after track. Compared to their previous works, this album has the most variation when it comes to the general “feeling” of songs, going from menacing to empowering. It is a ride of different emotions, all depicting aspects of giving your life to something you believe in, sometimes in vain.
Shrapnel Storm is an old-school death metal band from Tampere, Finland. Expect crushing mid-tempo death metal, mixed in with ruthless thrash components of speed and groove. The band had previously released two full-length albums: Mother War (2015) and self-titled Shrapnel Storm (2020). However last October they released the brand new, third album titled Silo.
