Wardruna, Haken, TesseracT, Port Noir and Vulture Industries will perform next year at the 16th edition of ARTmania Festival, which will take place in Sibiu from 28 to 30 of July. This edition will also feature a premiere concept, entitled Asgard in Transylvania. Read on to find out more.
Wardruna

Wardruna is a Norwegian Nordic folk group, dedicated to creating musical renditions of ancient Norse and Nordic traditions. They’ve just wrapped up a sold-out European Tour, which also included Bucharest.
They will return to ARTmania after their spectacular show from four year ago, when they presented their Skald album. Next year, Wardruna will present their latest musical odyssey, Kvitravn, released in early 2021. On Kvitravn, we will encounter Northern sorcery, spirit-animals, shadows, the relation between sage and songs, along with some beloved Norse spiritual concepts.
Vulture Industries

Hailing from Bergen, Norway, Vulture Industries caught the audience’s imagination with their theatrical, conceptual shows and mesmerizing music. For the first time at ARTmania festival, Sibiu, next year we will enjoy their unique mixture of progressive rock and dark experimental metal.
Vulture Industries‘ sonic stories are often accompanied by stunning visuals done by Costin Chioreanu. Apart from album artworks, this collaboration can also be seen on music videos for tracks such as The Tower or As the World Burns. Summed up perfectly by Metal Hammer, Vulture Industries are “one of the most intriguing and theatrical forces in underground metal today: from their music – a captivating combo of prog, post-punk and art rock that could soundtrack a creepy gothic carnival”.
Haken

British progressive rock band Haken will return to ARTmania Festival five years after their first appearance on the festival’s stage.
Formed in 2007 by multi-instrumentalist Richard Henshall, guitarist Matthew Marshall and lead singer Ross Jennings, Haken made their recording debut three years later with Aquarius. The band’s lineup has changed over the years, consisting now of Ross Jennings (vocals), Richard Henshall (guitar and keyboards), Raymond Hearne (drums), Charles Griffiths (guitar), Peter Jones (keyboards) and Conner Green (bass).
The band is currently gearing up for the release of their seventh album, Fauna, in 2023.
TesseracT

TesseracT will play for the first time at ARTmania festival in 2023.
The foundations of English progressive metal band TesseracT were set in 2003, and for the first four years it was the solo project of guitarist Alec “Acle” Kahney.
They are considered one of the pioneers of the djent style and have so far released four studio album, the latest being Portals in 2021.
Port Noir

Another premiere for the festival, the Swedish group Port Noir blends dark alternative rock/metal with alternative pop in a minimalistic fashion. The band debuted in 2011 and very quickly caught the attention of Anders Fridén of the legendary Swedish band In Flames who in 2013 also released Port Noir’s debut album Puls, via his record label, Razzia Notes.
Their latest album “Cuts” was release in March.
ARTmania 2023 lineup so far
Alongside Wardruna, Vulture Industries, Haken, TesseracT and Port Noir, the following bands have been confirmed for next year’s edition:
- Porcupine Tree ( progressive rock, England)
- Emperor ( symphonic black metal, Norway)
- SAMAEL (electronic/ industrial metal, Switzerland)
- Pain of Salvation ( progressive rock/metal, Sweden).
The next batch of announcements will come in January, 2023.

Asgard in Transylvania
In 2023, ARTmania will be celebrating the 16th edition in a daring way, with the entire festival gravitating around an ambitious creative concept: Asgard in Transylvania.
This “creative umbrella” implies that Nordic cultural elements, Transylvanian cultural elements and elements from ARTmania’s visual identity will find their way into the lineup, on stage designs and in other festival activities and spaces.
This project is called Musical Bridges, and ARTmania’s partners for this endeavour are Inferno Metal Festival and Midgardsblot, two of the most successful events of their genre in Norway.
