In case you missed it, last weekend you could’ve witness a great show where else then at Rockstadt, Brasov, a staple for every metal or music venue in general.
Downfall of Gaia, originally from Germany, opened the night with a show that mesmerized a good chunk of the audience (myself included). A true post-black metal avalanche of melancholy, emotion and energy, that’s what the guys left me to deal with during the recital. Michael Kadnar, the drummer, was especially praised after the show, and that’s not only me, the same impression was widespread among the people who attended after we got a chance to chat afterwards.
The night concluded with Der Weg Einer Freiheit, also from Germany. The guys displayed a psychedelic flavour of black metal infused with characteristic rawness but also melodic at the same time. To be honest is my second time catching these guys live and maybe at first I wasn’t able to appreciate the uniqueness of the band as much as I did last weekend, probably the whole experience being set in a club changed my perspective a little, on another level of auditory focus.
Last but not least, maybe the whole experience would have not been so intense without the great sound and acoustic the club provided. Also the crowd came in generous numbers, a lot of people especially from outside of Brasov (talking about support).
