In 2023, the Siberian duo returned with a new material, entitled Torem, which came out via Napalm Records.
Listen to Nord here.
About the album:
Torem invites listeners to enter a mystical world, where ancient instruments meet with hypnotic invocations. The album takes you on a unique journey related to the new trilogy of the band, dedicated to the three worlds of their country’s cosmology. Torem is sung in the old Khanty languages (native Siberian tribe) and Old Scandinavian (Old Icelandic). Furthermore, the title means “Great Sky”, in the Finno-Ugric languages of the indigenous peoples of Siberia – the Big Sky where the ancestors’, people’s and animals’ souls are reborn in the birds form. This is also the place where the shaman makes the first journey to learn the wisdom of the Great Spirit.
Listen to Huginn Ok Muninn, here.
Nytt Land’s unique music is inspired by the sound of Siberian nature – the roots of their music is deeply related to mythology, historical themes and ancient shamanic culture.
Listen to Rise of Midgard, here
Nytt Land‘s cosmic journey culminates with the iconic Rise of Midgard. Thus, it marks the appearance of the image of the shaman’s birth, the rebellion from the body of the giant Ymir in Midgard, as the highest creation of the gods in their power. However, the band provides the perfect musical soundtrack to all this!
With a captivating narrative, frightening images, dark atmosphere and songs encapsulated by throat singing, meditative rhythms and a spirit from the world of mythology and nature, Nytt Land offers an unforgettable and unmissable show!
