Codespeaker Announces "Scavenger"

Scottish post-metal band Codespeaker is set to release their highly anticipated second album, “Scavenger“, on November 8, 2024 via Ripcord Records. Following their well-received self-titled debut in 2022, the band returns with an even more aggressive and atmospheric sound.

“Scavenger” promises to take their sound to new heights, combining thunderous drums and colossal guitars reminiscent of titans like Neurosis and Cult of Luna. The album explores dark and heavy themes through a mix of hypnotic riffs and intense vocals, while embracing moments of atmospheric contemplation.

The band shared their thoughts on the creative process:
“«Scavenger» was an interesting album to write for us. With 3 out of 5 members joining since the last album, we wanted to craft something that reflected this new incarnation—new influences, new styles—while still feeling like Codespeaker. Blending such diverse influences into a cohesive sound has been a challenge, but we’re incredibly proud of the result”.

They continued, noting the evolution in their sound and thematic focus:
“«Scavenger» is more pointed and aggressive, influenced by the new members, evolving tastes, and the darkening sociopolitical landscape we found ourselves in… It’s much more vitriolic and desperate. The lyrics focus on the faults of power structures and the struggles of those who bear the brunt of them. It’s an ode to the powerless, a fitting theme for these times”.
