Formed in the time of the global pandemic, Colombia’s Funeral Vomit has been spewing forth their particular brand of death metal sickness since 2020. They joined Xtreem Music in 2023 for the release of their debut full-length album, Monumental Putrescence, followed in 2024 by an expanded reissue of their 2022 self titled EP. Now it’s time for the second album from Funeral Vomit! Indeed, the second tome of monstrosities and malignancy – Upheaval Of Necromancy!
About the new album
Intro (The Disentombment) leads you with beckoning claw and dire imprecations into the subterranean world of Funeral Vomit… Obviously, a world where nothing is quite as dead as it seems – and from that atmospheric beginning all hell is unleashed! Then, the title track, Upheaval Of Necromancy erupts from the darkness with immense, cavernous vocals and guitars, dusted in the last remains of the long, long dead. This is fetid death metal from the grave, a classic invocation of the ancient arts of death.
There is no let up from the claustrophobic horror as Sulphuric Regurgitation, a rumbling war machine of unspeakably malicious intent gouges deep grooves into your flesh and the primitive horror of Hematophagia pursues you through lightless catacombs, hungry for blood. Even Interlude (Mortuary Ecstasy) is less a respite and more a promise of far, far worse to come…
Indeed, like Cryptic Miasma Stench, a monumental piece of soul devouring death metal, with screaming leads and crushing weight. After the scouring guitar riffs and colossal, bludgeoning bass and drums of Rancid Insorcism, Outro (Effluvia Of The Mass Grave) settles into your mind, letting you know that while you may have reached the conclusion of Upheaval Of Necromancy, the Funeral Vomit nightmare will never end.
