Brazilian death/thrash metal band Rotten Filthy will release their new EP, Apotheosis, on March 20th. Showcasing their new lineup, the EP marks a return to the band’s roots, delivering fast, aggressive riffs and intense themes inspired by Afro-Brazilian religions and neo-pagan cults. The first taste of the EP, The Path of Mercury, is now available for streaming.
Apotheosis, the upcoming release from Rotten Filthy, represents both a fresh start and a return to form for the band. Featuring a revamped lineup, this EP brings a more aggressive and focused sound, combining elements of death and thrash metal. The band’s approach is raw, direct, and relentless, drawing influence from legends like Slayer, Kreator, old Sepultura, Entombed, and Dismember.
Lyrically, the EP incorporates spiritual and cultural themes, exploring Afro-Brazilian religions and neo-pagan traditions. This thematic direction is not just part of Apotheosis—it defines the band’s future. The new lineup has brought a renewed energy, and Rotten Filthy is committed to refining and pushing their sound further without compromising its intensity.
The band recorded the EPat Timbra Studios, with production, mixing, and mastering handled in-house, ensuring a raw yet polished sound. Indeed, one that captures the essence of the band’s ferocious live energy.
With Apotheosis, Rotten Filthy is not experimenting—they are doubling down on what they do best, delivering fast, crushing riffs and anthemic brutality that honors their influences while carving their own path.
