French atmospheric black metal one-man project Limbes released one of the most cathartic black metal albums of 2024, Liernes, mastered by Jack Shirley (Deafheaven, Oathbreaker). The project’s second album, Liernes came out on July 5th, via Frozen Records.
Born as the solo emotional outlet of G. Galaup (Blurr Thrower), Limbes has released 2 critically praised full-length albums as well as a collaborative effort with fellow French trailblazer Mütterlein. Limbes‘ music is truly idiosyncratic, both embedded in black metal tradition and forward-thinking bliss.
As a live act, Limbes is nothing short of spectacular!
Limbes‘ one of a kind live performances are torrents of sonic hyper-sensitivity, capturing the ethereal essence of black metal while tearing it apart through electronic elements. His unique approach to extreme music led him to a prestigious concert at the Paris’ Philharmonie in April, a collaborative release with Mütterlein and club shows alongside Imperial Triumphant, A.A Williams, VMO, Hexis or Messa. Cascading black metal tremolos crash against pummeling drum machines while distant scream, sometimes without a microphone, right at the audience’s face, offer maximum catharsis. Each live performance is a torrent of distorted textures and sonic hyper-sensitivity.
Whether in the most prestigious settings, such as Paris’ Philharmonic in April 2024 or in the most DIY venues, this solo entity creates a deep sense of intimacy for the audience to dive into.
