Solus Rex, the brainchild of multi-instrumentalist Peter Svensson, is about to release its debut EP, The Duellist’s Monologue. This project, developed over many years, embraces the essence of old school death and doom metal. The EP comprises four haunting tracks that delve into themes of Weltschmerz, the loss of imagination, and the agony of creative arts. With influences drawn from early Paradise Lost, My Dying Bride, Winter, and Mourning Beloveth, the EP promises to be a rich and immersive experience for fans of the genre.
Peter Svensson, known for his work with Void Moon, Assassin’s Blade, Anchorite, and ex-Goatess, has meticulously crafted The Duellist’s Monologue to capture the raw emotion and atmospheric depth that define Solus Rex. The EP is characterized by deep, melodic riffs and introspective lyrics that invite listeners into a world of despair and resilience. The Swedish band’s debut EP will come out on September 9th via Obelisk Polaris Productions.
