Ostoraton, the melodic death metal band from the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, released their second full-length album, on August 8th. Titled Somood, the eight track material comes four years after the debut album, Rehla. Continuing their journey into a more oriental Middle Eastern sound mixed with death metal scales, the album is filled with melodies and harmonies that are more aggressive and heavier than their previous work.
Somood is a journey through life, exploring themes of human experience, societal views, and historical reflections. The album seeks to separate the negativity and positivity of life, aiming for tranquility and peace amidst obstacles and successes.
The band recorded the album in a humble home studio in Khobar, a city in the eastern region of Saudi Arabia. Despite the lack of local community support for their genre, Ostoraton has persevered. Recorded and produced by vocalist Mohammad Alsharif, the album benefited of mixing and mastering done by Dimitris Douvras at Lunatech Sound Studio, Greece.
