Rockstadt Extreme Fest is the largest metal festival in Romania. With its first edition hailing back to 2013, along the years it has become a beloved tradition of celebrating music and freedom, both for Romanian metalheads and international metalheads alike.
During the last two years, the festival was postponed. I don’t have to spell out the reasons, we all know the troubling times we faced, and are still facing. With that in mind, I would like to point out the incredible effort that lies behind a festival of such proportions. With two main stages, more than 50 bands on the line-up coming from all over the world, a location at the mountain side, surrounded by forests that needs prepping…and we have only covered the tip of the iceberg.
Even if we currently don’t have restrictions in place, we are still navigating through the best of times and the worst of times for event organizers: the best of times – we can finally enjoy this beloved festival together with our friends from all around the world. The worst of times because, due to numerous factors such as cancelled flights, an actual war taking place just north of Romania, uncertainty regarding the pandemic, numerous shortages….and the list goes on. All these factors have unequivocally influenced the capabilities of some bands to travel. Let’s not forget the various personal reasons, such as sickness. Numerous festivals had to adapt their lineups this year, from Hellfest to Incineration Fest to Wacken Open Air. Wacken just posted their daily schedule with the comment “It has never been so complicated before”. And I couldn’t agree more.
The reason for this prolonged introduction is this: please be kind to one another and respect the hard work, dedication and commitment put into any festival.
With that being said, this article is meant as a comprehensive glossary of all the bands that will play at this year’s edition of Rockstadt Extreme Fest, along with the unfortunate cancellations and the daily schedule, so that no expectation is left unquenched.
