As some of you might recognize, the Bucharest quartet MBP is not a new presence in the pages of our magazine. MBP was one of those bands that kept on doing their own thing, performed on stage and always had their eyes set on the future.

Actually they gave a detailed and interesting interview to Din Intunerec earlier this year (you can check it out here), right before the band entered the studio to record their new material. I attended (as well as organized) both shows they played here in Bucharest at Quantic venue.  The 1st one in September 2019, alongside the Russian prog rockers Shokran, just to return in late February 2020 with a short, but conclusive set with mainly new songs, sharing the stage with local heroes Blacksheep and Creepy Willie, plus the Canadian stoner sludge trio Bloated Pig.

Several months passed, all the world collapsed due to the damn pandemic, bands got crippled, tour plans were thrown in the trash-can, so it’s soothing to realize something ‚normal’ just happened.

MBP released their first single from the new up-coming EP just today in the form of a well-done and dynamic video, directed by Ana Breten who used to work with the band also for their debut and most viewed video until now ‚Look Behind’. Musically it is new age modern metal with a touch of prog, the main difference from their debut album released last year being the fact this time they pushed the pedal on the general tempo and melancholy dissolved into anger. The sound is sharp, full and powerful, yet clean, this being in my opinion the main contribution of Marius Costache from Studio 148, one of the most well-known names in terms of Romanian metal productions.

Check it out for yourself, my personal opinion is that ‚Silence’ is the best thing MBP has offered until now, their future looks promising!
