Final Step Productions announce a new edition of Metal Gates Festival! Here is the announcement:
We are pleased to announce the 4th edition of METAL GATES FESTIVAL!
It will take place in Quantic, over 3 days on October 15-17th and will gather bands from all around the world.
The graphic identity was done once again by our good friend and amazing artist Costin Chioreanu.
Varathron is a Greek black metal band in a similar vein to early Rotting Christ and Necromantia. They formed in 1988. Following the Greek style, the band builds a lot of ambience and progression using strong melodic and hypnotic guitar work and slower, peaceful doom/death metal moments amongst the occasional bursts of chaos very typical of Greek black metal.
Like many of their Greek contemporaries, including Necromantia, Rotting Christ, Thou Art Lord, Zemial, and Agatus, they helped to formulate a unique style of music often referred to as “Hellenic black metal.” This style of black metal typically utilizes gradual, dramatic and melodic riffs over slow explosions of highly percussive drumming, which makes it sound noticeably different from the archetypically Norwegian or Swedish styles of black metal. Varathron’s first full-length entitled His Majesty at the Swamp is considered by many to be one of the greatest black metal albums of all time.
