MYRATH returns to Romania to hold shows in Bucharest and Brasov with a special guest: Eleine.
Friday, February 28, 2020, Myrath returns to Bucharest (Quantic Club).
With its unique style of progressive metal combined with oriental influences, Myrath has slowly become one of the most fascinating bands on the international stage and now they return to Romania. Bringing together progressive influences and catchy beats, their latest album, “Shehili”, combines Arabic music and groovy pieces from “Tales Of The Sands” (2011) with carefully crafted musical arrangements and intriguing structures from the latest opera, “Legacy” (2016).
Innovative yet faithful to the specific Myrath sound, “Shehili” dares to establish a contrast between cheerful songs and extremely well thought out but sad lyrics. This aspect can best be seen in “Dance”, a song that tells the story “of a Syrian dancer who receives death threats from Isis but chose to continue dancing, even if that meant dancing among the ruins and graves”, as Zaher Zorgati says. “The purpose of our music is to induce happiness and joy, to be a tribute to those who refuse to fall or stop hoping, even in a world full of hatred and uncertainty.”
Far from the clichés found in many modern metal bands, “Shehili”, although produced with extraordinary care, retains an organic and natural statement. The drums were recorded in Hamburg, Germany, by Eike Freese (Deep Purple, Gamma Ray), the violin parts – thanks to the Tunisian Symphony Orchestra – were recorded in Tunis, and the rest of the album was recorded by Kevin Codfert who made sure that absolutely every note has found its place.
