Broken Silence Black Death Metal Fest 2020

Broken Silence Metal Fest 2020

Broken Silence Metal Fest 2020 will take place in the Summer Theatre of Burgas (Bulgaria) on May 9, 2020.

In 2007 John Walker frontman and guitarist in the legendary British Death Metal band CANCER, with albums like “To The Gory End” and “Death Shall Rise” along with Adrian de Buitléar, ex-bassist in Mourning Beloveth (Ireland) started a new European metal band called LIQUID GRAVEYARD, with Raquel Walker on vocals.
It started out as a more progressive Death Metal act than Cancer, hitting on a variety of styles, with Raquel shifting between growls and clean chants, always with Old School Death Metal references. After the release of their second album “The Fifth Time I Died”, LIQUID GRAVEYARD has become a Supergroup, playing a unique Death-Grind Metal, with John’s unique riffing and Raquel’s brutal growls.

Legion Horna was born in the year of 1993 through the diabolic union of Shatraug and Moredhel. In 1994, Horna was joined by drummer Gorthaur and first demo “Varjoissa” was created in 1995. After two more or less successful live appearances during spring 1996 Nazgul joined the congregation on vocals leading the way to the recording of “Hiidentorni” which eventually became Horna’s debut album. Following albums “Kohti Yhdeksän Nousua”, “Haudankylmyyden Mailla”, “Perimä Vihassa ja Verikostossa” and “Sudentaival” were made with the same line-up, not to forget EP releases of the same years, until Nazgul left the band through a transition, becoming Satanic Warmaster. Through-out the years the lyrics of Horna ventured from harsh anti-christian hatred, paganism and fairytales to severe exaltations of the occult, the mysteries of the dark side of mankind and Satanism – from youthful outbursts of anger to ever more maturing inner enlightenment.

2004 was the year and the small Norwegian town of Halden was the place. There and then the black metal band MORK was created by Thomas Eriksen near the dark Norwegian forests. The band works as a one-man-project much like many other Norwegian Black Metal acts do. The music is in the Norwegian spirit and can be compared to the magic of early Burzum and Darkthrone. In 2007 the demo “Rota Til Ondskap” was released and is compiled of recordings from 2005 until 2007. Finally, in 2013/14 the debut-album “Isebakke” was released through the Canadian label HSP Productions on digipak CD.
The sparks then ignited and the flame of MORK was raised. Lost souls have been summoned and MORK is now a full-live-act and ready to take its Norwegian Black Metal on the road. MORK will continue to paint the world black.

Kawir is a Greek band from Athens and Attica and is one of the older bands in the Greek black metal scene and the oldest in Pagan Metal. Vaso Prasa of describes them as “historical”. Musically, Kawir can be attributed to the Greek Black Metal style with the typical for this genre keyboard but has the combination of metal-atypical instruments with contrast to raw electric guitar sound and texts in ancient Greek (which unusual in the Greek scene). Through epic tendencies, the use of non-metal instruments such as flutes and acoustic guitars as well as the lyrics about pagan cultures, the band approaches Pagan Metal; The song Hymn to Zeus is even completely recorded without metal instrumentation and is based exclusively on percussion, flutes and acoustic guitars,  flutes and female vocals.
Author is a Finnish band. What we have of the Finnish one-man project’s debut, named “Lopun Alku”, is old school to the bone, all the while not neglecting a clean sound or the genuine black metal feeling. We do not have droning, stretched out passages, 17+ minute songs. This is tremolo, shrieks, blast beats and a no-bullshit approach and a tribute to classical black metal. 6 songs and 36 minutes.
LYKAIONAS are from Greece and approach an ancient-inspired black metal. They have two albums.
