The mighty Darkthrone will release a new album on the 31st of May, 2019, titled “Old Star”.
Darkthrone is one of the old school Norwegian black metal bands that everyone knows and don’t really need any introduction. With such classic black metal as “A Blaze in the Northern Sky” (1992), “Under a Funeral Moon” (1993) and “Transilvanian Hunger” (1994), the band formed by Fenriz (Gylve Nagell), Zephyrous (Ivar Enger), Anders Risberget and later joined by Nocturno Culto (Ted Skjellum) would come to be known as Darkthrone back in the late 80’s, when they still played death metal. It was not until the early 90’s that their interest shifted to black metal and the band we know today was born.
Releasing no less than 17 full length albums in three decades of activity, the band approached a lot of different styles and added them to their black metal sound, from punk rock to black’n’roll. Their lyrical concept has always been fueled by anti-religion, Satan, rebellion, occultism and metal itself.
Current line-up:
Fenriz – drums, guitars, vocals (additional)
Nocturno Culto – vocals, guitars, bass guitar
The upcoming album, which will be released on the 31st of May of this year, is titled “Old Star” and will be released through Peaceville Records and will contain 6 tracks.
