Founded in 1997 in New York, USA by Sal Lococo and four other members, the well-known crossover thrash band and hardcore punk initially wore the name “Downfall” and then “Mindset.” At that time he was tackling a mix of old school hardcore punk and new school breakdowns, quickly attracting attention to the American hardcore scene. The first material consisted of a compilation called “New Found Hope II – The First Amendment” and “State Of Mind 7”, after which the group changed its name to Sworn Enemy.
The first official record came out in 2003, “As Real As It Gets,” released under Elektra Records and produced by Jamey Jasta (Hatebreed), defined by the well-known Lambgoat publication as “a record that gives you energy and you inspires to take the butter out from the next person entering the room. ” The material, dominated by trash metal influences combined with near-black metal abrasive tones, was well received by the industry. After that, the American group toured with Anthrax, Slayer, Sepultura, Soulfly, Biohazard or Fear Factory.
“The Beginning Of The End,” also marked by strong trash metal influences, followed by a tour alongside Six Feet Under, Dying Fetus and Hatebreed. And in 2007, a tour alongside Kataklysm, As Blood Runs Black, Too Pure To Die, and Suicide Silence.
The year 2008 brought the CD “Maniacal”, followed by “Total World Domination”, the latter being defined by band members as a mix of their debut album “The Beginning Of The End” and “Maniacal” with a sound and a tough energy, marked by hardcore accents. After a break of several years, accompanied by changes in composition, in 2014, Sworn Enemy returned to light with a new material, Living On Borrowed Time, under Rock Ridge records, then touring several US, Canada and Europe.
Sworn Enemy brings this year a new material intended to be a “Gamechanger,” full of explosive energy and virulent lyrics, as well as its name and the first song available to the public: “Prepare For Payback”.
