The drone doom metal musicians from SUNN O))), whose career spans back almost 20 years, have announced that they will be releasing a new album this year, in spring. The new material will be entitled “Life Metal” and is set to be released in April through the metal record label Southern Lord. The album has been recorded with Steve Albini in Chicago at Electrical Audio Studios.
The new album will include contributions from Hildur Guðnadóttir (Pan Sonic, Throbbing Gristle, Múm), guitarist Tim Midyett (Silkworm, Bottomless Pit) and composer Anthony Pateras.
It has also been revealed that “Life Metal” will not be the only release in 2019. An LP entitled “Pyroclasts” has been recorded with the same Seve Albini and is rumored to be released in autumn.
