The new full-length of Romanian black metallers Ordinul Negru, entitled “Faustian Nights” was officially released last friday night in Quantic Club, Bucharest. This event had Sincarnate and Vathos as guests and sadly, because of some medical issues, the Swedish band Netherbird couldn’t come. We hope to see them performing soon in our city.
The schedule was exactly on point and at 9 pm sharp the opening act came on stage. Once again, the band Vathos have not impressed me personally. Their show was not a good one, but not a bad one either, it was somewhere in the middle. I do not want to go too much into detail regarding their performance, since I noticed that criticism is not well received in this regard.
Next band on stage was Sincarnate. A band which I saw in the past performing in Colectiv in 2014 alongside Taine and Subliminal Damage. The band is playing doom influenced death metal; a heavy type of music which combines a dark atmosphere, as well as the aggressiveness typical of the genre, in their sound. As you already know, I pay particular attention to the vocals in my reviews, and in the case of this band, the penetrating growl of the vocalist offers a lot of expressiveness. This time I think the sound was better and their performance as well. For those who are not familiar with them, the band was founded in 2005. Sincarnate recently launched its second full-length and fourth recording, entitled “In Nomine Homini”, on the 1st of April 2017.
I have been waited for this gig since I first listened to “Faustian Nights” which surely became one of my favourites and of course, shortly after listening to it, I made a review of the whole album. It’s great to have high expectations and then have those expectations exceeded by something even better. As I stated before, Ordinul Negru might be, in my opinion, one of the most important names in our underground scene. The show was beyond awesome and I recognized the majority of the lyrics and the setlist of the night was similar to the track order on the album. This album is clearly better than the previous one, with songs which can get stuck in your head for a long time after you’ve listened to them. Words are not enough to express my enthusiasm towards this show, towards their performance which clearly was one of the best gigs of 2018. If you didn’t catch the guys on stage it’s time you do !
I want to thank Axa Valaha Productions for booking another great event, to Quantic for holding the event and to all the crew behind it!
Until next time!
