Next year, Rockstadt Extreme Fest will return for its sixth consecutive year. More than likely it will take place near Rasnov, just like the previous editions. The first name confirmed was announced on the big screens near the big stage in the last evening of the 2018 edition, just before In Flames closed the festival.
Paradise Lost is returning after 5 years in Romania; their last show took place on September 27th 2014, when they were a part of the Metalhead Meeting Festival that took place at Arenele Romane in Bucharest. The show from Rockstadt Extreme Fest will mark the 30 years of activity for Paradise Lost.
Paradise Lost is one of the pioneers of the doom/death metal genre, alongside Anathema and My Dying Bride. The band was founded in 1988 in Halifax, England. They are named after the poem with the same name written by the English author John Milton. In their 30 years of activity, they released 15 studio albums, the last one being “Medusa” in 2017. Starting with the album “One Second”, released in 1997, the band tried experimenting with electronic influenced music, but they returned to their original roots with the album “Symbol of Life”, released in 2002. Paradise Lost remains a big source of inspiration for young artists. Jonas Renkse from Katatonia stated one time that “his band was originally a Paradise Lost fan group”.
Paradise Lost has performed on the world’s most well-known stages such as Wacken or Summer Breeze from Germany, Brutal Assault from the Czech Republic or Download Festival from England. Their line-up has remained stable for such a long-standing heavy metal band, consisting of singer Nick Holmes, guitarists Greg Mackintosh and Aaron Aedy, and bassist Steve Edmondson. Holmes and Mackintosh are the principal composers, with almost all of the band’s songs credited to them. During the years, the band has only changed drummers. Their last drummer, Waltteri Väyrynen, is an official member of the band since 2017.
Paradise Lost was, is, and forever will be known for songs like “Beneath Broken Earth„, „Faith Divided Us Death Unites Us„, „Don’t Belong„, „Pity The Sadness„, „As I Die” or „Forever Failure„
