Voivod are getting ready to release a new album in September, entitled “The Wake”, through Century Media Records. “Obsolete Beings” is the single of the album that has been made available to the public. Also in September, the Canadians from Voivod will begin a European Tour, tour which will bring the band to Romania as well, more exactly in Cluj at the Flying Circus Pub.

The new album keeps the same style of progressive thrash metal, which is considered by the band as being a natural continuation of the EP “Post-Society” released in 2016.

Michel “Away” Langevin, the band’s drummer, said:

“We are thrilled to let you know that our new album, ‘The Wake’, is completed! The music is like a futuristic prog thrash metal trek with many twists and turns, and the story involves the usual Voivodian topics: disasters, chaos, conflicts, strange plots and alternate consciousness. We are excited with the result and can’t wait to get the material out to you this fall! Also, try to catch us when we tour Europe in September and October. It will be a great opportunity for the band to test some songs from our upcoming album.”

“The Wake” track list:

  1. Obsolete Beings
  2. The End Of Dormancy
  3. Orb Confusion
  4. Iconspiracy
  5. Spherical Perspective
  6. Event Horizon
  7. Always Moving
  8. Sonic Mycelium

As a forbearer of the new album, Voivod will release an EP with the track “Always Moving” on the 31st of August. The material will also contain a live version of the track “Order of the Blackguards”.
