On a short note, 2017 gave us lots of goodies and memorable releases, so before we throw it in the new year’s graveyard, I would like to perform a fast dissection (better said a vivisection) of it.
Chapter I: Death metal end of discussion: Phrenelith – Desolate Endscape
Chapter II: Best come-back release: URN – The Burning;
And since we are talking about Kings, also to be mention: Attic – Sanctimonious
Chapter III: If a mental disorder would have its own mental disorder: Undergang – Misantropologi
Chapter IV: Brutal Death Metal that you may not want to mention to your therapist (also a great come-back): Cenotaph – Perverse Dehumanized Dysfunctions
(same chapter but with aliens): Analepsy – Atrocities from Beyond
Chapter V: We are French and we death metal with style – deal with it: Necroblood – Collapse of the Human Race
Chapter VI: The horror, the death: Spectral Voice – Eroded Corridors of Unbeing
Chapter VII: Black metal and witchcraft: Malokarpatan – Nordkarpatenland
Chapter VIII: Raw black metal as raw as one could get: Sortilegia – Sulphurous Temple
Putting our scalpels aside, there are many more albums worth to mention. As a personal note, 2017 was a great year from this point of view, but now, choose your favorite pathology and let’s get prepared for the year that is about to come.
Cheers to all!
