Interview with Lianne Krossburner (Edenkaiser)

Black metal from Spain

Hello dear and thank you for accepting my request to do this interview! So let’s talk a bit about your band Edenkaiser for those who are not familiar with, give us some details. The new album is on its way. Could you reveal some secrets for our readers? Which were your biggest inspirations?

The new album is now being mastered. We just add a new member to our line up, Aless, an old friend, who was recording the bass lines few weeks ago. He gave a thrashy sound to the songs, something that we all missed from our first EP Doomsday Juggernaut. To be honest, the new songs are probably more aggressive and harsh, both music and lyrics. Ov Future Wars & Echoes from the Past is the title, and as you could guess, the main theme is the war, not as an historical concept though… We love playing with the what if thing, conspiracy theories and lots of sci-fi mixed with the reality of the world where we’re living.

Since when you do music and why did you choose this to be your path?

I’ve always been a music lover, but I didn’t do anything serious until 2009 when I founded Edenkaiser. I’ve been involved in music my whole life, from writing biographical books for a little Spanish publishing house, like I did with Slayer and Megadeth, to organize shows for another bands. However when I first decided to create the band with Häwkmoon (guitar player), I instatly know that we had the need to say some things, to explain our own beliefs and our way to observe the universe.

Because lots of ppl ask themselves what has to do a woman with metal, I started a project based on this idea. My target is to talk with most remarcable women in metal. I want to know your honest opinion: Do you think that a female vocalist can give credit to a band or is this a disadvantage? What about a woman which is the main vocalist?

Under my point of view it makes no difference. The respect for a band starts when the members think they deserve it and it should not be judged by the genre of the vocalist.

Do you feel there are any differences of treatment towards women in the underground music scene, as compared to men?

Nowadays in terms of promotion it could be an advantage because it’s something pretty new. You’ll be judged and criticized for the way you behave, the clothes you wear, the themes you talk about… and not only on stage! But it’s nothing to do for being a woman, human being is simply like that. You don’t have care too much…

Will be a tour after the album release? (I hope Romania is on the list as well)

I didn’t start booking properly for 2018 yet. After several line up changes, the band wanted to take a break only to write and prepare the new album. As soon as it’s finished, we’ll sort the firsts shows out. We cannot talk about long tours due all the members have los of compromises besides the band, but there are few places in mind and of course we would be happy to come back to Romania! We loved playing there!!

Thank you for your time dear! Was a pleasure for me to talk to you. Would you like to add something in the end for Din Intunerec readers?

Thank you, Miruna. Pleasure is mine. To be posted about Edenkaiser, check our Facebook page out. Soon we’ll be unveiling news!
