The new restored Flying Circus Pub is finally a proper location for concerts. The venue was recently reopened as a concert hall; having now the advantage of a better sound then previous. NEKRODELIRIUM from Norway and BLOODROCUTED from Belgium completed the tour as opening acts. Sadly I didn’t manage to see the first band so I will start directly with BLOODROCUTED.
BLOODROCUTED is a mix of Thrash Metal with brutal and aggressive Death Metal influences. The band had a set list of over 30 minutes of Thrash Metal onslaught incorporating Teutonic Thrash, blast beats and Death metal vocals. Overall a good band, personally I found them too loaded with aggressive elements, but I think that a true Metalhead would have surely enjoyed them.
Up next I could enjoy the Polish Death Metal act HATE that promoted their last album “Tremendum” released on the 5th of May via Napalm Records. The band returned to Romania after the Blood Mantra Balkan Tour when they played as opening act for Polish Death Metal band Decapitated.
The show was an explosive one reminding here and there of the old BEHEMOTH acts. HATE performed a very good show, mixing their brutal Death Metal past with the new heavy Old School Black Metal future. It is clear to me that the bands future will be more into Black Metal eventually mixing new elements to overcome their framing within the metal scene.
ABSU returned to Romania after their first show within the “Never Blow Out The Eastern Candle Tour” back in 2013 organized only in Bucharest by the Romanian Thrash Metal Club. The veterans of American Black/Thrash Metal came with their classical set list playing about 50 Minutes of old school music.
The big surprise was that Mr. Proscriptor McGovern played one track behind drums after that performing only the vocal parts. It is a bit odd to see this band performing live with a vocal front man. Sadly the band didn’t release any new material since 2011, so they played the old ABSU songs. Otherwise, their performance was a classical old school must for any nostalgic Metalhead.
The last band to perform in this evening was NARGAROTH from Germany who released on the 16th of May their last record entitled “Era of Threnody”. Personally I managed to listen to the last album before going to the concert and didn’t find it very interesting. One think is clear; you never have to compare one artistic release of a band with another, especially when we speak about NARGAROTH.
I think that this band has many musical approaches so you can never expect something predictable when it comes to new releases. NARGAROTH’s reinvented performance included a new live line up with new and old tracks ending with the “Seven Tears Are Flowing To The River” elegy and bringing a tribute to his ancestors who lived once on Romanian soil in what was known as the Greater Romania.
Overall it was a very pleasant evening together with friends from Romania and Germany. I can only recommend you to check out these bands if you have the occasion to catch them on tour around your location.
